Portulaca oleracea is annual flowering plant in Portulacaceae family. Stems are purplish red to green, forming mats. The leaves are fleshy and arranged in alternate or opposite manner. Flowers come in a group at the end of the stem.

Planting and care

Look for aphids, gnats, snails or slugs and apply cure on time. Avoid moist soils. Control the purslane by cutting the flowers off before the plants set seed.

Portulaca Oleracea care

Keep the plant in natural indirect bright Light. Poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture. Water when top soil (1-2inches) feels dry to touch. Do not re-pot for min. 2 weeks after receiving it.
