Alternanthera is herbaceous perennial small shrub plant in the Amaranthaceae family. Leaves are crinkled green with irregular margins, bumpy and puckered in appearance. Flowers creamy-greenish, inconspicuous, produced at leaf axils in head-like clusters with papery sepals. Over all growth is compact and low form makes plant an ideal for groundcover.

Planting and care

Water the plants often enough to keep the soil from completely drying out.
